Accessing the Traka Key Box

Overview
This article provides step-by-step instructions for removing and returning keys using the Traka Key Box.
How to Remove a Key from the Traka Box

1. Tap your NOVACard on the Traka card reader.

2. The main screen will display a list of available keys.

3. Review the key numbers shown on the screen:
- Each key inside the Traka box has a numbered label.
- You can verify the required key number by viewing the keys through the glass panel.
- Green indicates you have access to the key.
- Red indicates you do not have access to the key.

4. Select the appropriate key number on the screen.
- The corresponding Traka compartment will automatically unlock.
- A green indicator light will turn on.

5. Remove the key and close the cabinet door securely.
Returning a Key
- When finished using the key, tap your NOVACard on the Traka card reader.

- Check the tag number on the key ring.

- Insert the key into the matching numbered slot inside the Traka box.
- Ensure the fob is fully inserted and the door is completely closed.

Requesting Access to the Traka Key Box
To request access, please submit the Key and Electronic Door Access Request (Form 105-156). Select Key Application under Request Type, choose the campus, then select Key Box as the building and the appropriate room location.
