Overview

This article details the steps to install and access Microsoft Office Student on a Windows or Mac computer. This software is provided for free if you are a NOVA student actively enrolled in courses and have made payment.

Windows

1. Uninstall any version of Microsoft Office installed on your Windows computer. Once it is fully uninstalled, please restart your Windows computer.

2. If you had any version of Microsoft Office previously installed on your Windows computer: Follow the steps in Remove the Microsoft Office License in Windows to use the Office License Removal Tool to remove any stored license.

3. Open your web browser and go to the Portal Office page.

4. Login using your myNOVA (VCCS) email address and password.

5. Click the Install Office button under Office apps & devices.

6. Download the OfficeSetup.exe when prompted.

7. Run the OfficeSetup.exe and follow the steps to install Microsoft Office Student on your Windows computer.

8. IMPORTANT: In the Stay signed in to all your apps dialog, uncheck the Allow my organization to manage my device checkbox and select the No, sign in to this app only link. Click the OK button.

9. Open any Microsoft Office Student application (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

10. Click the Sign in button and sign in using your myNOVA (VCCS) email address and password to activate Microsoft Office Student.

Mac

1. Uninstall any version of Microsoft Office installed on your Mac computer. Once it is fully uninstalled, please restart your Mac computer.

2. If you had any version of Microsoft Office previously installed on your Mac computer: Follow the steps in Remove the Microsoft Office License in Mac to use the Office License Removal Tool to remove any stored license.

3. Open your web browser and go to the Portal Office page.

4. Login using your myNOVA (VCCS) email address and password.

5. Click the Install Office button under Office apps & devices.

6. Download the OfficeSetup.exe when prompted.

7. Run the OfficeSetup.exe and follow the steps to install Microsoft Office Student on your Mac computer.

8. Open any Microsoft Office Student application (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

9. Click the Sign in button and sign in using your myNOVA (VCCS) email address and password to activate Microsoft Office Student.
