Overview
This article details the steps to forward an email as an attachment in Gmail. Forwarding an email as an attachment is useful when you need to provide full details, including headers, timestamps, and metadata.
Steps
-
Open your web browser and go to https://nvcc.my.vccs.edu/.
-
Login to myNOVA using your myNOVA (VCCS) credentials.
-
Double-click the Gmail tile in the myNOVA My Applications page.

-
Select the checkbox next to the email you want to forward as an attachment (do not open it).

-
Click the three-dot
icon at the top of the Inbox and then select Forward as attachment.

-
A new email window displays with the selected email attached in .eml format. Enter the recipient’s email address in the To field and compose the email subject and message.
-
Click the Send button to forward the attached email.

Troubleshooting
-
Missing “Forward as attachment” Option? Make sure you are using the desktop version of Gmail via a web browser and not on a mobile device. If you are using a mobile device browser, switch to Desktop mode in your browser settings for access to full Gmail features.
-
Email Not Sending? Check your network, email settings, and recipient’s email for errors.
-
Attachment Not Opening? Ensure the recipient’s email client supports .eml files or advise them to use Gmail.
