Overview
This article details the steps to get a physical NOVACard. NOVACard is the official identification card for Northern Virginia Community College. All NOVA students are encouraged to get a free NOVACard to access benefits and services.
Steps
To obtain a NOVACard, you must:

Be enrolled in a class for the current or future semester.

Have your student ID number ready.

To find your student ID, log into your myNOVA account and select the View my information link on the top left corner.

On the next screen you will see your Student ID (Emplid).

Bring a valid government issued photo ID such as:

State driver's license (including state‐issued temporary or provisional license with photo)
-
U.S. or Foreign Issued Passport

Military Issued or State Issued ID
-
Permanent Resident Card

OR Two Secondary forms of ID:
Note: If the above forms of ID are not available or have expired within past 12 months, you can bring TWO of the documents below:

Expired Primary IDs from the list above (within last 12 months)

High school photo identification card
-
A piece of official mail with name and address that matches the information in the student record system

Optional: Upload Your Own Photo
You may upload your own photo online, but the NOVACard Office can also take your picture when you’re on campus. More information regarding uploading your own photo can be found in our Upload Your Photo to NOVACard guide.

Visit A Campus NOVACard Office
When visiting a NOVACard office, getting a NOVACard may take up to 5 minutes. Please keep in mind this does not include the wait time in line.
